A Lil' Gift to Brighten Your Day! (hopefully)

Hello there, fellow PC members!
For quite a while now, I had been mulling over the idea of crawling out from under my little rock of obscurity to advertise myself in the most dramatic and ostentatious fashion imaginable!!! uh, creating a blog. However, the ‘what about’ aspect frequently eluded me. Like many a blog author, I wanted to offer something meaningful and worthwhile, a kernel of my (albeit limited) wisdom, perhaps? Or maybe something bright and inspirational, to uplift downtrodden spirits and put back the missing spring in one’s step? Yet my mind, while rampant with multitudes of whimsical, nebulous ideas, could not settle on something concrete.
In the end, I decided on (singing!) a song. It’s a popular one that I’m sure you’ve all heard of: Have I Told You Lately, by Van Morrison.
Important note: Beware of poor audio quality (the microphone in my digital camera sucks) and more importantly, horrendous off-pitch garbling masquerading as 'singing'. (Perhaps I was simply entertaining the delusion that said 'horrendous off-pitch garbling' may somehow come off as endearing as opposed to ear-haemorrhaging.) While it is no easy task singing and playing the piano at the same time, I very much doubt I did the song its deserved justice.
To everyone out there, especially those who are weary and lonesome of heart, I dedicate this song to you. When things seems dark and dreary, do not despair. Do not lose hope. There is always someone who cares (or would be willing to care), someone who believes you to be the joy in their life, the light in their own darkness. Here be their unvoiced sentiments to you:
.....
....
…
..
.
(And I’ll go crawl back under my little rock of obscurity now.)
Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there’s no one else above you
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles that’s what you do
For the morning sun in all its glory
Greets the day with hope and comfort too
You fill my life with laughter
And somehow you make it better
Ease my troubles that’s what you do
There’s a love that’s divine
And it’s yours and its mine like the sun
And at the end of the day
We should give thanks and pray
To the one, to the one
Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there’s no one else above you
You fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles that’s what you do
Take away all my sadness
Fill my life with gladness
Ease my troubles that’s what you do
Take away all my sadness
Fill my life with gladness
Ease my troubles that’s what you do

This did brighten my day indeed.
My night, rather, which is even better. It's dark outside D:
Please don't beat yourself up. It makes me feel bad :c you're very talented and have a good heart and that is something to share with people! nothing to be ashamed of about that :D
thanks for sharing so much! I have heard you sing at last, then; you have a very nice voice!Posted 02-21-2010 at 09:14 PM by Jib

I liked listening to this. Your version is better than the Rod Stewart one, I didn't like his. Van's version is so much better in my view.
I've always imagined singing this to my future wife, except mine would be more like "I know I've told you so many times already that I love you but..." lol...
What are the chords you are playing?Posted 02-22-2010 at 07:53 AM by cardinalfire
