Socionics?

I'm certainly an INTJ according to the Jung's and MBTI theory. I use Ni-Te axis very often unconsciously.

But should I be an INTj or INTp in Socionics? I've done the Socionics test several times but all they suggest are I'm INTj. Indeed the INTj description fits INTJ very well but the order of functions are totally different. On the other hand, functions of INTj are those in INTP in MBTI.

I'm really confused by the two systems and functions. Are the functions mentioned by these two theories the same? Could I be INTj and INTJ at the same time.

I do think Jung's and MBTI are more reliable though. There are more data, essays and explanations than Socionincs.

If you are Ni-Te in MBTI you should be Ni-Te in socionics, which is INTp.
Match your type by cognitive functions, not by 4-letter codes.

sadly not the case because a lot of MBTI research does not take cognitive functions into account, many MBTI studies group all NTs together for example and disregard the fact that Ni-Te valuing INTJs and ENTJs are very different from Ne-Ti valuing INTPs and ENTPs ... and the typing heavily relies on stereotypes and surface behaviors, whereas socionics take a more cognitive approach: Socionics - the16types.info - Forms of Cognition by Victor Gulenko

I thought this at first but I'm actually an INFP in MBTI and INFp in socionics. This is because socionics has different descriptions of the functions to MBTI - just like MBTI is different to Jung. As INFP, I've done the most research into Fi, Ni, Fe and Ne and not so much on the other functions but I can tell you most people with Fi in MBTI would probably be classed as having Ti under Jung's ideas. Jung's idea of Fi is very feminine compared to Fi which can be applied to both genders easily.

Fe in MBTI is about laughing when other people are laughing, behaving appropriately in social situations. Fi takes on that role in socionics. Ni in MBTI is about analysing patterns and stuff whereas in socionics, it is more to do with dreaminess and rich landscapes in the mind etc. You can't say just because you are Te in MBTI you are Te in socionics as well (although you may be). Remember personality typing is just theory and everyone has a different idea.
