Strike a chord in the Silence
A dark, dark key for a dark, dark tiime

It's the loud B-flat minor chord struck at the bottom of the register, the ebony keys small but strong under fingertip. There's an edge to the sound that resonates, reverberates bone-deep. And it's a sad day when such a sound is ignored simply because it is unpleasant for us.
For years, I had thought that if we just tried to listen and understand each other in the contexts of ourselves, we would feel seen and loved. Sure, there's some give and take, but I had thought that it would all come out equal-ish in the end so it didn't matter. It's only now that I'm realizing the extent of my unfortunate naivety. I suppose we're not meant to listen, not meant to be understood. Everyone is so busy with their own lives that they don't have the room to be able to think of others. And so when you tell someone else that at least, just for right now, things are not okay... it falls on unwilling ears.
And no, things are not okay.
