Things to consider when typing yourself.

I decided that I'll put up a small guide here so the next set of type form filing and the social exchanges that go after it can go more smoothly. I also included some anti-stereotype because people tend to project their desired selves, feel repressed, or go ballistic over "unfavorable" responses.

Also, I certainly believe that educating oneself about how the system works is key, but that will be left too other 100000 guides on this forum and it's up to people to really dig into the "truths".

If this is the wrong forum to put it, please re-administer it.

    A) Matters of Extroversion / Introversion

Do include if being around people or talking about ideas energize you or not.
Don't worry about being "shy", "having few close friends" or lacking "people skills". Your real world "performances" have nothing to do with it.

    B) You're not likely an "N"

Everyone theorizes, generalizes or have some idea of how the world works. And most importantly, understanding is pertinent in terms of every learning style. The next time you put in "I prefer theorizing" even though you're secretly uncertain if you're really an ENTP, consider putting more details or context. People will sniff you out regardless of what you write.

Technically everyone has at least some ability to think abstractly and notice that there's an underline in this word (and not the other one).

    C) Imagination is an universal survival skill

Everyone uses their imagination at some point or daydreams ideals. You need to be more specific about how you go about your glorious "imagination" and also, you are not likely to be scouted for Pixar.

    D)
If you can't get some thick juicy answers into those questions, consider another form.

And by juicy, I mean that your one or two line responses is likely as good as orange peels.

    Herp: What's my type form
    Spades: What's My Type Questionnaire

Spade's form is more concrete and contextual and has so far, generated faster type diagnoses. If you still have difficulties, you're not ready for type assessment.

    E) How do you act when you're stressed or what pisses you off?

Acerbusvenator had kindly compiled a set of resources:
The below is another variant of shadow functions, as devised by "Vagrant Force"
    Source

INJ (se): "...such a brutal, sensate landscape. why do people settle for animalistic immediacy? I'm not an animal, that's for sure. I'll conceive my own reality, on my own terms."
ITP (fe): "...people are so easily manipulated and shallow. I can see how things really work, I couldn't possibly play along. Isn't anyone able to think for themselves?"
IFP (te): "...individuals are so divided and discouraged, for such horrid impersonal reasons. I pay attention to how people feel, and that's more important than anything."
ISJ (ne): "...such chaos and nonsense, it would all self-destruct if it wasn't for those of us keeping check of things. Do people really want things to fall apart?"

EFJ (ti): "...cold, hard logic doesn't go anywhere toward helping people. where would we be without each other? why risk breaking that neccessary bond?"
ETJ (fi) "...people are so unwilling to take charge, too afraid of stepping on someone else's toes just to get something done. I get things done, I have the balls to see how life really works."
ENP (si) "...immobility never lasts, the earth never sits still. If you just sit in one place, how could you possibly go anywhere?"

ESP (ni) "...trying to repress your own instincts only serves to heighten them. why are people so frightened of what's right in front of their nose?"

    F) What do you consider your weaknesses and what are you considering or have considered in dealing with it?

For example, you might not consider future consequences before but now your agenda or blackberry is your best device.

    G) Ne does not "light up like Christmas trees"

And people with ADD are not necessarily SE/NE-doms. Your brain goes through "linearly" but you are alert for possible branches of ideas or possibilities and you also look at conceptual properties of objects. Not its physicality or tangibility, in the case of doms or auxes.

    H) Almost everyone procrastinates and nobody likes chores, even the SJ's

    I'd know, dear.

The question is, do you go with the flow when you go about your personal projects, or do you always need or have some game plan about it? ;)

    I) The fact that people misunderstands you is not a useful fact in determining your relations.

It is your responsibility to learn how to interact with people no matter what disorders you have.
And questioning why so many misunderstandings occur is probably a bigger priority than what type you are.

J)Do you have any alternate personality test results (BIG Five, Enneagrams)
Any type can be any other alt. personality type, but it can certainly cut out a lot of possibilities on what you're not.

And in case your enneatype is wrong, most people on this subforum are likely pretty Rennaisance about other theories pertaining to the human mind.

    K) "I'm not traditional"

Have you considered what the term "traditional" really means?
Did you just pulled out a dictionary and stopped thinking after you read the dictionary definition or go, "did you think I'm idiot to not know what the term means?"

Then you're probably not an N. No offense or taunt bait intended.

    L) Try to think about why you do the things you do, why you like something, etc.

It won't just improve MBTI diagnoses, it will probably improve your life on the road to self-discovery just a tad more so than having a personality type pinned to your butt.

Or for the least, think of the end of agonizing whether or not you use FI or TI or is really INTJ as a reward after sufficient self-analysis. You know that your "type" is not a piece of jewelry.

    M) If you're not going to show your form to a teacher, don't post it.

In other words, please keep your form nicely spaced and nicely paragraphed because sensors on this forum exist, and we care how visually legible your form is.

BTW, not caring how pretty your form is only increases the chance you might be an N by 0.5%.

    @Wakachi:

I would like to know: why do you think you are an ESFJ and not an ENFJ, ENFP or any other type?

Your answer would be much appreciated.

    Because she's smarter than you.

But seriously, what does her type have to do with this topic?

    WTF ! ?

Oh -- is this just because she's an ESFJ who's showing a great deal of insight, knowledge and a penchant for theory means that she can't be a sensor?

    It was a serious question.

Please explain, Acerbusvenator...is there anything about my posting or whatever else that you highly disapprove of? I understand that she is your friend here on this venue and that it seems that I lack consideration, I am aware of that...but I, more than anyone else, need to know why the disapproval. This is a forum and I do not wish to spend my time here (and other people's times) creating disgust that need not be.

That would be most people's first guess, yes. But it's not that. I'm just curious about it, I learn better this way.

What does questioning her type have to do with "Things to consider when you do your form"?

It doesn't have much to do with it. But I do not judge improper to ask. It is not an accusation at all. I'm just curious because she does indeed have some solid knowledge of typology theory, all the while not being the most «probable» type to do so, according to many sources. That is all.

But you have not answered my question-- is there anything coming from me that you disapprove of?
Nonconsensus, Poptart, chwoey and 3 others thanked this post.
