Need some help from you lot - interiour design!

Cool story, I just moved into a new apartment and I need to make something out of the bedroom. I seriously suck at interiour design and everything that is associated with it. So - I thought I could ask you lot for some help, I bet some of you are really talented at it.

I suppose I could do it myself but seriously it'd just look like someone dumped a whole bunch of furniture in there and thats that....which is exactly what I'd do! ^^

The walls are white and the floor is a light parquet, although I quite suspect that it's fake, I don't really care thou.

Here is a really small, ROUGH schematic of the room. The lines on the north line is windows, the marks on the right is a slanted ceiling, which gives some character I suppose. I'll take some measurements tomorrow.room.jpg
Would really appreciate some tips from you guys if you have any, or perhaps know some sites with tips and ideas. Can provide a picture or two if that's better too..

I'd like it simple, maybe some dark browns and stuff. Nice n' cozy! I don't need wardrobes since that's in another place in the apartment. Only need to fit a desk for my computor, somewhere to place a big-ass guitar amplifier and a bed :P

    Knock yoursleves out! =)

    Thanks

It is important to get measurements of this space so we know what will fit where. Can you confirm where the door to the room is when shut: does it lie against the west wall or the south? This matters for the positioning of the bed.

In order to position the bed in the best place for you, when you are in bed, would you prefer to look out at the view through the windows or at a wall with a painting on it, blank wall, or a tv screen?

Whilst the internal slope gives an interesting break to the room it can be a challenge to incorporate it. If the space is large enough, you could put your desk and shelving units in there, along with a tv, and conceal it all with sliding doors. If light is an issue and the room small, making these mirrored doors will give the added dimensions of more light and space to the room.

Using a barrier to section off an area of a room means that, when you close that barrier, you separate your bedroom from your work area, redefining your space as an area for rest and relaxation. It also makes the room look neat.

Alternatively, you could section off that area for your guitar amplifier and use the next smallest wall for your desk.

Working out where everything is going to go should be the first thing you tackle. Everything else is adding to the internal design elements. You are already part way there through knowing your choice of color scheme so going with that, and mixing in rugs, matching throws, wall art which contains browns and contrasting colors to make it pop, will bring it all together nicely.

I'd put the bed in the far top left corner, with the pillow side in between the wall and door swing radius and the body and feet of the bed lined up against the wall. I would recommend an air mattress in all seriousness. Your room is small so to conserve space you could flip your air mattress up against the wall of the top left corner when you're not using it. I got an air mattress from Wal-Mart for like eighty bucks and it is SO comfortable. Even without the comforter and sheets it's just if not more comfy than a regular bed in my opinion. Has built-in pillows so it feels like a real bed and an object to make it pump up really fast to stay cushioned for a great deal of time. Real easy to use. You can release all its air with that said object and literally fit it into a grocery-sized bag that comes with the mattress if you want to take it somewhere.

You could then put a small desk on the bottom wall directly to the right of the door radius and your computer on it (assuming there is an outlet nearby). Then put a comfy desk chair to the right of your desk and your guitar, amp, cords, etc in the slanting part on the far right so then all you have to do is swing to your right and grab your geetar and still have a pretty spacious middle area. Maybe put a tall lamp / bookshelf / weights to the right of the feet of your bed just before the slanting part.

A big rug would be nice to put in before you move all your belongings in so you don't have cold feet syndrome when you get out of bed in the morning. Also, if the window doesn't have blinds, you can get velcro blinds from Wal-Mart to attach to both side of the windows so you could put up a brown sheet (pun not intended lol) to give it that brownish in the jungle type feel. Maybe add some tropical smelling air freshener into the outlets to enhance that vibe.
